WATERCOLOR: GEORGIA O'KEEFFE
February 5, 2020 - Georgia O’Keeffe (1887-1986) was an American artist born in Wisconsin. She is best known for her large paintings of flowers, rocks, shells, animal bones, and landscapes. She transformed small, ordinary objects from nature into large-scale abstract paintings filled with beautiful colors. She is one of the few women artists to have achieved such art historical significance.
Using watercolor, we followed Georgia's style by painting big flowers with solid, bright colors. We used blending, dripping, salt, and even straw blowing techniques to create our art. We had a lot of fun creating flower art inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe's work.
